Kz440 Air Cleaner Element

So I have recently acquired a 1982 Kz440 Belt. It had been sitting for roughly 15 years before I got my hands on it. Long story short there was a lot of cleaning to do. Got it cleaned up and running. My problem is that it had no airbox so I tried pods (bad idea) I finally got fed up and tracked down a stock air box. After getting on the bike (lot of fun lemme tell ya) I realized I was missing the air cleaner element. I tracked one of those down too but its gonna be quite awhile before it gets to my house. Without that air cleaner element the bike runs very very lean with the choke off due to no filter im guessing.....anybody have a thought on how I could restrict air and ride the bike while I'm waiting on the air cleaner element?

You could get a sheet of foam filter material and attach a layer or two over the intake to the filter box. You will have to experiment with the number of layers. Be sure it is securely attached. You do not want to suck it into the engine.

I could probably find that at any auto parts store or hardware store I suppose....may be just zip tie it in place for the time being? This bike has been one hell of a project. I feel like I'm on the home stretch now and I'm itching to ride the ol girl! Thanks for the tip!
