Gas tank cap

Aloha guys. I hope I'm posting this on the right section.

For the life of me, I can't find my original gas cap. It should be somewhere as I don't think I'll throw away something I need down the line. Anyway, my question is just that. What do you guys use if you need a gas cap. Brand new Chinese copy or good used cap?

Found several on evilbay so getting one should be no problem. I'm just not sure about the quality of Chinese cap. If I decided to get the used one, I'll be sure to change the gasket, so don't worry about that.

Any thought or experience?

I would buy a used one if I needed one.  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I installed a repro fuel cap more than 5 years ago. high quality & works-fits fine.
Made in Taiwan & seems to be the same one sold at various places.*
Info on box: 20-0032 FUEL TANK CAP, #51048-1003 (Made in Taiwan).
note: the Kawasaki part number supersedes to 51048-1018 which is the part number for the stock fuel cap on my motorcycle.

PartsNmore Fuel Cap 20-0032: www.partsnmore.com/parts/kawasaki/kz650h/?q=20-0032

* ps: not to be confused w the cheap chinese knockoffs listed on EB.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I was bit worry about the Cheap Chinese cap, so good used one it is. So far, I haven't see any Taiwan made cap, but I'll try that as well.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe fuel caps at PartsNmore, Z1Parts.net & Johnny's Vintage Cycles are probably the same as the one I got.  I've only seen a few on EB made in Taiwan, but they usually cost more.   2FastMoto on EB has a couple, including an Emgo.

This one has the same keys as mine w the same logo, so probably the same.  2fastmoto item 202780280324 also has the same keys but the logo is hard to see. Alternatively, I wouldn't hesitate to get an emgo fuel cap. should be made in Taiwan.

EB. linked this one just to show the key logo. this seller's pricing is usually higher than others.

Oooooooooooooh, OK.

Yeah, I saw couple of those, including the 2FastMoto ones. Didn't realize that was Taiwan, but it did cost somewhere in the 20's. Found couple decent looking used cap as well, so not too sure which one I'll go with.

I'm kinda leaning towards the used Black cap I found......................

If a black one is preferred, you could try painting a chrome one with Rustoleum bar-b-q grill paint.  I painted the manifold section of a nice muffler system w silver bbq paint & it has held up without peeling or anything.  I didn't sand or roughen the chrome, just cleaned it with a soft brass jewelers wire wheel to remove rust mostly from the welds.  Alternatively, engine paint may also work.  but I know the rustoleum bbq paint sticks to chrome.
