Carb adjustment order was created by KennyJ
Just wondering the proper order when adjusting your carbs. I have a 1976 kz900 Z1 which I have just recently put back together and got running the other day. The first thing I checked was to make sure the engine was bang on for the timing which it was.the second thing I done was synchronize the carburetors using my Mercury carb sticks the last thing I am going to do is to adjust the four air screws on the carburetors. After the air screw adjustments are done and the idle is set to the proper rpm should I recheck the carburetor synchronization with the carb sticks or should I assume that all is good

You did it in the correct order doing the synchronization first. Optimizing your idle mixture does not change the vacuum, or amount of air being pulled through the carbs.

Did you bench sync the slides before putting the carbs back on?

No harm re-checking the vac readings but as already mentioned, fine tuning the pilot mix won't change them.
