KZP1000 Choke bb's?
06 Dec 2020 16:29
After running the carbs off this KZP1000 2001 model. I found 2 bb's in the bottom of my Ultrasonic bath tub. Only place I can find where they may fit. The I think #2 and #3 carbs where the choke rod goes though them. Would I be thinking right on this? Are these a kind of stop to hold the choke on and off? Looks like if they do fit those 2 carb body's. That there should be more then just the little BB's for those holes?
Bike has 36,000 miles on it. Guy I bought it from got it from a Police department. He (not the sharpest person in the world.) Got bad gas, and let it sit for months in the carbs. So the carb's had rust in them. Tank is spotless inside, but he told me it was running gas out of the airbox. That told me it had gas in the oil also. Drained out over a gallon of oil/gas when I drained the oil out.
Carbs will be going back together tomorrow. But need to make sure where those 2 little bb's looking balls go.

I've got two sets of those carbs I'm redoing. I knew about the ball & spring and was careful when pulling out the rod but damn if I didn't manage to loose track of those parts regardless. Thought for sure that the balls hit the floor but low and behold found them frolicking amongst the disarray that is my bench top. Celebrate!:woohoo:

To say I was shocked to find the springs still in there home. Well that was almost more then I could hope for. Should finish up the carbs this weekend.
Blame truck is down right now. And looking like my bone head move. Is going to make me replace a head on this 3.6L Penastar. Easy job of rushing before the right tool came in. Is going to cost me $900. plus my labor. Man I hate cages..
