Hi folks,
I just picked up a pretty decent 2001 KZ1000 Police bike. Bike was running totally fine, but then yesterday when I hit the starter button the engine immediately screamed to redline. I dissembled the throttle and everything looks ok, I can see the carbs moving as well. Any suggestions? The bike is totally unrideable and I'm afraid of starting the bike in this condition.

Could be several things.

Did one or more of the vacuum caps come off or split?
One of the vacuum lines come off or split?
Is the throttle shaft hanging up?
Has the petcock failed, causing a flooding condition?
Is a dead pterodactyl stuck in one of the carbs, holding it open?

Check the choke assembly. Make sure it isn't on.
