76 KZ900 Carb Vent Routing
03 Jul 2020 06:31
Question, There are two carb vent nipples one on #2 and one on #4 carb. Anyone know the correct routing for the vent tubes. I'm thinking they should vent high well above the carbs ?
Thanks for any info.

On Z1's, we terminate them one on each side between the frame rails under the tank and the main backbone, just in front of the gusset where the backbone joins the two upper side rails.
Later Z1's have an oval cutout in said gusset sized just right for the vent hoses. There's been some discussion as to the real intent of that oval hole. We still prefer to terminate the hoses directly under the tank as described above for (perhaps) better protection from water incursion.

I have referenced pictures on the bike several times... it’s a beautiful example... The person that bought it joined the site but currently can’t find his post sale thread...

Follow up, need advice from experts. Doesn’t the vent hose route through the oval hole shown at red arrow

I'm quite sure the factory routing was as your two photos depict, through the oval in the frame gusset and secured in the clamps in the air filter cover.
