Stuck Pilot Jet was created by Tiger2126
I bought a 81 or 82 kz650 with the mikuni bs32 carbs on it. I was re-jetting when I found the previous owner had mangled the pilot jet so bad, there's no way to unscrew it, it looks as though it was drilled. I was wondering if there was a way to remove or retap the hole, or if there was a way to get just one carb to replace the one with the mangled jet. any advice helps, thanks

I don't think I understand. You bought a KZ650 but you don't know what year it is? Would the bike's year not be written on the title? If not, or if you bought a bike with no title (hmmm), you can discover the year of the bike and of the engine based on the bike's VIN and the engine serial number. The bike's VIN should be very easy to find - it is on a white tag and also stamped next to the tag on the steering stem neck. The engine serial number is stamped next to the oil filler hole. Post those two numbers and we can identify the year. BTW, the year matters a lot because every year there were changes to the KZ650 bikes. Ed

It was advertised as a 81, but I wasn't sure it was correct, I tried looking up the VIN on my own and got strange results from the free VIN look ups, saying it was a 2012. The VIN is JKAZEH17C013491 and the engine number is KZ650E047643. I bought it pretty sight unseen looking for a project bike. I got it to run with the regular jets, but the previous owner took out the air box. Here is a picture of what the pilot jet is looking like, though its kind of hard to see.

It's in there deep but a machinist could probably get it out for you.

If you look at the white sticker on the headstock it should have the month and year the bike was built. Anything built from July to December is part of the next year's model year. For example, a bike built in 9/81 (Sept/81) is an 82 model.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Can't tell for sure from the picture how deep that jet is mangled, but it may need some professional help as Hardrock already stated. Chances are it's jammed in there pretty good now from the looks of what's left. Do you have any idea how much material in in the hole yet? I know what I would try but it will depend on having enough jet material left in the hole.

You can also just type the vin in kawasaki's part diagrams. That vin you provided said it wasn't found though.
