1984 GPz 550 Pod Filters Question was created by dpivas7
I am working on a 1984 GPz550 for a friend that has cheapo MOXI pod filters. The airbox has been removed a long time ago.

It's been awhile since I've ridden a carbureted bike with a stock airbox (ride an EFI Harley these days) so I don't remember exactly what it's like to ride.

I am aware of the compatibility issues of CV carbs with pod filters, but I am wondering if it is at all possible to tune a carb with pod filters so that it can react to quick throttle blips. Right now on the GPz, if you open the throttle too fast, the engine will hesitate. If you're idling, the engine could die if you blip it too fast. I'm guessing this is because it gets too much airflow a la the pods.

Can I tune this out with a proper carb balance? Or is there any other way to workaround this issue?

So on my 83 440 LTD, I have pods, and a straight exhaust. It's not running all that great so I ordered a customized jet kit from 6 Sigma for $49 (free shipping). After I install the kit, I'll let you know how it runs and how my throttle response is afterwards.
