I have done that and I didn't have any problems. However, if the gaskets are really old they can get very hard, so if that's the case you may want to replace them. Ed

When I rebuilt my carburetors, I rejuvenated the gaskets by soaking them in Liquid Wrench silicone spray lubricant & let them sit overnight in a sealed container. I didn't know this at the time, but the LW can said the product was good for paper gaskets or something to that effect.

ps: prior to installation, I probably let them air dry so that any solvents could evaporate.

Yes, I have. As long as they are good to go. No damage, nice looking. But if hard? Soak in a light petroleum oil, little gas mixture.
