Carb Issue? NEED HELP!
04 Apr 2020 19:24
I recently got a 1979 KZ 750 that I am in the process of converting to a cafe racer. There were a couple issues with the bike when I got it. Carbs were disassembled and much of the bike was as well. I bought a couple of rebuild kits and new floats from Z1 and rebuild the carbs. I reassembled the bike and could only get it to run for a couple seconds (like in the video below). To be sure we readjusted the valves (3 out of 4 were out of spec) and when we reassembled everything there was no change. Still difficult to keep running. At this point I am lost, Could it be the ignition coil? The points? The fuel level in the float bowl? Jets?
In the video the idle speed screw is all the way, yet it still idles very slow for the few seconds it runs like in the video.
Anything helps, Just need somewhere to start or some help with diagnostics
