Anyone have a ZN700?
13 Mar 2020 16:00
I have an 84 and I'm trying to set the floats. The Kawasaki manual (supplement in the back for the ZN700) says to set the fuel level to .5 +/- 1mm from the bottom of the carb body. I have never set the level that high in anything. I'm not questioning the manual but just looking for someone to say yes.

Can you post a photo of manual section in question? The early KZ750's used very similar carbs and the fuel level is lower.

If you click "insert" when posting photos they will show up in high resolution instead of thumbnails.
Regardless, my guess is that the manual has a typo. Should be 5.0 not 0.5.

The section right below in the manual is for the ZN750A and it calls for the same setting. .5 +/- 1mm. I have them set to 5 so I guess I will install and see how it goes. Thanks!

Nessim, my Zephyr 750 has CVK32 carbs and has same specs, for carbs level, 0.5 +/-1mm ABOVE the seam. Both on the specs section and on the drawing showing how to measure the level with a clear tube.
I've never questioned it, but did not consider it that important....wrong...………..I've been below the seam and is too lean, gasping for fuel and slow on accel from low RPM....until I went at least at the seam and starts easily and accelarates briskly.. In my case, the manual means what it says. I have not tried it way above yet though.
. ...my guess it would be too rich.

I used the settings printed in the manual and set the floats as close as I could to the .5 +/- 1mm below the body of the carb. I cant quite get the level up as high as it should be (its more like 2.5 mm below the body) but it starts right up and idles as it should. Thanks for the info.
