Hello Does any one know if vapor blasting will work on tough corrosion it is the surface above the float bowl. I also am curious about using a bead blaster on the carb body, I am afraid the media might get jammed into the passage ways
any thoughts or experience?
Greg

I'm on my 3rd carb set and had good luck with Berryman carb dip and then CLR to remove the last of the corrosion. The CLR lightens the original color some, but if you not looking for a concourse restoration then you should be ok.

That a great looking set. I’ve been looking for something like that to clean up my ‘78 without removing the engine

CLR is a household cleaner for Calcium, Lime and Rust. It removes tough bathroom, sink, cellar, rust stains or calcium build up etc.
You can glass bead with a very fine micron glass bead media. Do it quick with nozzle back farther than usual. That pot aluminum will disintegrate if you are aggressive.
And dip them in a sulphuric based acid if you want them brightened.

Glass bead will remove that corrosion easily. I'd protect all the carb openings before blasting and wash well after. VM carb bodies are zinc so thay can take a lot of abuse. Aluminum carbs hold up fine to glass bead as well. I don't recommend crushed glass blasting though because the carb bodies will look a little duller than with real glass bead. It's better than nothing though.
