FCRs on a kz1100ltd? Anyone tried this?
21 Nov 2019 00:35
I know someone trying to sell some fcr carbs for a great price and I'm thinking about grabbing them just bought a 83 kz1100 bone stock but its my new project just about running doing alittle jetting to the stock carbs and cleaning up. Would it be worth trying for the fcr carbs? Thanks for the help

it depends on the size.
it's harder to find the smaller 32/33mm carbs in the states.38mm are probably going to be to big .
they are very nice carbs if you can get the right size.

I ran a set of 41 Keihins on a 1428cc GS1100. They worked great in that application. The carburetion was better, and the throttle pull was way lighter than the 40mm mikunis I had replaced. I also had a set of 39s on an FZR 1000, and they worked well in that application too.
I'd think anything more than a 35 would be too much on a mild KZ.

Thanks the response I don't plan on doing any work the the motor but I might do a open or slightly baffled exhaust and pod filters. I have stock carbs with stage two jet kit at the moment haven't modified the exhaust yet but I'm thinking about punching a hole through each muffler not sure if they work that way yet but I've done that to a few other stock bikes made the rumble instead of whistle

Don't put holes in your exhaust, really?

Haven't heard the bike run yet not sure if it sounds good plus if the stage two keys are gonna be to rich stock. Was thinking if I have to get different exhaust or try to modify the stock ones but it seems it's a bad idea? I'm not experienced when it comes to this bike but I've used a long skinny metal stake to hammer through the baffles in my other bike with a jet kit it improved the sound and was cheaper than new muffler's

If your not going to do things the correct way then dont do it all. What your talking about is called a ghetto fix. Ghetto fixes have there place like you broke down in the middle of nowhere. It'll get you home where you repair it the correct way. I've been repairing and building motorcycles for over 40 years and cannot tell you how many ghetto repairs done by previous owners I've had to repair once I become the new owner. I cringe everytime I hear or read where people want to do these kind of fixes Please just don't do them.

I've had my share of ghetto fixes, most of which I did myself...

Let me get this straight.... you're willing to put $800 carbs on the bike but would rather hammer a metal stake down the exhaust to destroy the baffles than spend $120 on an aftermarket muffler?
