Petcock repair/replacement help - '80 Kz650 F1
13 Oct 2019 01:02
I'm quite frustrated that I keep seeing these petcocks on Amazon for $7 and then when I look for one that fits my tank it's $80+! Even the repair kits are around $40 which is too steep for such a simple object. One issue here is the 44mm mounting hole spacing. The other issue is the shape of the piece that goes up into the tank. I've found one on ebay that MIGHT work. The piece/filter tube seems to be off-centered in this item whereas mine is dead center.

Any workaround here would be great. Currently taking it apart to see if I can just repair. Thanks!!

I restored the petcock on my 750 by replacing all soft rubber parts with new OEM parts from Kawasaki. It was quite reasonable and OEM parts are superior to aftermarket when it comes to this sort of thing.

I also much prefer the factory rubber parts. I polish the face of the lever where it contacts the rubber, as well as the place the small oring seals against.
