As long as you are in there, it would be a good idea to replace the pressure plate springs. After nearly 40 years of constant compression, they are likely at or past their wear limit. They are not terribly expensive, and easy to replace while the clutch is apart.

Took your advice Texas and grabbed new springs as well, went with the walker clutch kit (I think they're made in New Zealand under Pyramid Parts, had success with their kits in the past) for $67 bucks shipped. Looks like someone had previously replaced all but two of the friction plates. Got everything bolted back together - old_kaw hit the nail on the head, that thing isn't slipping an inch! They were definitely toast, the amount of clutch pushrod adjustment after the install was pretty significant. Threw a bonus pick of my brand new rattlecan silver flake job in there for good measure!

Good for you! The new springs are a given on a 40 year old Kaw. I bought my springs from Z1E when I was scrubbing plates trying to make old glazed plates work. Make sure to use Rotella T-4 or T-6, oil. The price is hard to beat too. (wally world <20 bucks gallon jug)

Good deal. Looks like a good price. I hope you bolt the calipers back on before too many more miles
