84 Kz550 ltd
13 Aug 2019 15:46
Hello my name is Kenny, I have an 84 Kz550 ltd with throttle hesitation. The bike starts and idles fine, but I thought I would reset the float bowl floats to see if that would clear the throttle problem The shop manual just has you hooking up a clear tube to the over flow of the carb so measure the fuel height that way. This makes no sense to me with 4 carbs to reset? Maybe 1 carb yeah. Does anyone know the metric measurements using a float bowl gauge for the 84 Kz550 ltd? I would really appreciate any feed back on this. Thanks, Kenny

The clear tube method is the only reliable way to insure proper fuel level.

Makes perfect sense to me. Each carburetor float is completely separate from the others & one carb doesn't know what the other floats are doing. Checking the fuel level in each carburetor is easy. If any of them are out of spec, resetting them is the hard part. The throttle hesitation could be something else. Diagnosing this sort of problem isn't in my forte, but if it's a high speed miss, it could be as simple as the battery. don't ask how I know. doh.

Nice clean and unique bike you have but a clear tube and a carb clean/ vaccum sync is a must do maintance. DonĀ“t miss a valve clerance check too.
