Don't try this at home ! was created by urankjj
Got my carbs back yesterday from a partial disassembly and cleaning. Wanted to give them a good cleaning on the outside before I put them back on the motor. As I stated, don't do this at home unless you are single or plan on becoming single. This is a rack of Mikuni 33mm smooth-bores that have been taper-bored to 37mm, work done back in the 1980's.

That is pretty common for gearheads to wash parts in their kitchen sinks. I have seen people use their dish washer too!!!!
I use the kitchen oven to bake the finish on my exhaust systems and motor parts!!!
Your next few pizza's will taste a bit funny from all the coating fumes left in the oven.
Gunkote seems to be the worse for lingering odors in ovens!!!!

Here is solution for those who likes pizza tasting pizza and pizza smelling pizza. Oven could be easily saved if you use heat gun and cardboard box lined from inside with two or three layers of cooking foil fixed with aluminum tape. You could run this setup outdoor. I've baked couple of painted engines in such manner and I use box&heat gun method whenever I need to remove cylinder sleeves. The temperature of heated surfaces could be up to 160-170C according to pyrometer.
As for carbies, one could get more fun even with simple ones in workshop.
