yes I have learned that lesson, They are completely apart and I need to get some carb dip. I had read that boiling in lemon juice or vinegar will work also , any thoughts? Also any information on the pilot jet sizes, going from stock # 45 to #50. and are the ones listed correct for a 1982 KZ750 CSR Twin? Dennis Kirk has them listed a s a possible fit but the match what I currently have taken out.

Those pilot jets you found will work but I'd stick with the stock 37.5. Bigger pilot jets can be used if you've put on pkd filters and a performance exhaust but even then I've only had to go to a 40.

Lemon juice will turn the carbs dark. Never used vinegar, and don't see the point other than maybe saving a few bucks over the dedicated carb dip stuff.

I have the carbs torn down to the only thing left is the throttle blades, do I need to remove thise before I dip the carbs? I plan on getting a can of berrymen or gunk cleaner. Anybody have any particular favorite carb dip?

Berryman's. And no need to remove the throttle shafts. Just shoot water into the crevasse around the shaft when you rinse after dipping.

Edit: this carb rebuild tutorial isn't for your exact carbs but it covers the BS Mikuni's in general. Worth a read... zeus.mtsac.edu/~cliff/storage/gs/Mikuni_...Rebuild_Tutorial.pdf

Soak until they are clean. Typically a few hours if the dip is fresh. I know some guys that soak 24 hours just to be safe.
