Interesting Craigslist Post
15 Jun 2019 09:07
What do you guys think about this post, 29mm smooth bore for $300 tells me something is wrong.
Here is the link chambana.craigslist.org/mpo/d/white-heat...arbs/6884290086.html
I attached the pictures too because when the post is removed the link will be dead.
I am tempted to drive down there and look at them. But what do you guys think about them?

Those appear to be Keihin CR or CRS carbs, which are excellent and really expensive. I think Dynoman sells them for around $1,100 new.
Edit: I just read the advert and he does list them as CRs. That does look suspiciously cheap, but could be worth a look.

I can't say if those carbs are involved, but there have been a lot of scams on chicago craigslist lately. There are a bunch of bikes that are way too cheap, like Yamaha R1's in great running condition for $900, and many other makes and models. SOmetimes I will see the exact same ad but the location will be different. Sometimes the photos will have a palm tree... you won't find that in chicago. I'm not sure how the scams work, but be careful with deals that seem too good.

29mm CR Keihin carbs for 300 bucks!!!! WOW!!!! Almost too good to be true. If they are in good shape, and have no damage to them, I would buy them. If you are going to look at them. Bring a 5mm and 6mm socket and ask seller if you can remove float bowls and have a look see inside the carbs. Make sure everything is there. Make sure the slides return when you open them without any resistant. Make sure the spigots fit the KZ intake ducts. A set of four new spigots to fit Kz ducts ain't cheap!!!! Those spigots are the only thing that makes CR's fit different model bikes.
Keihin CR's are picky carbs. Plan on buying a few sets of slow jets, main jets, and maybe a different set of needles to get them dialed in to your bike. I love Keihin CR's myself. Worked with them since back in the early 80's. But I have about every CR part and jet I will need in house. Once you get those carbs dialed, you will love them!!!!!!
