Air box Baffle??

Hey guys, so i found a guy that had a box of parts for my 82 550LTD. I got the air box, awesome. But i got this plastic piece, an looked it up. Its' called an Air box baffle. Never heard of it, an since my bike didnt come with a stock airbox i have no idea where it goes, or if its even an important piece to have in there. i know you have to have the bracket pictured, but i dont know where the hell that goes either. Can anyone help me out?

Are there any bolt holes in the frame below the rear of the fuel tank?
Some of the 70's 650 models have the same baffle & it's attached there.
The way the baffle & bolts are oriented in the 550 airbox diagram, I'd guess it fits the same as the 650.

ill need to check, the bike is at my work. What does the baffle even do? Doesn't look like it goes inside the airbox

Here's a pic of where that piece is located on my 1977 KZ650-C1. Ed

That piece goes in the same place on a Kz550 that Ed showed on his Kz650. On a 550, it also helps keep the air filter holder down in front. On a 550, there was a metal clip that used the same bolts, similar to the metal piece you show in the earlier photo, and it would hold the accessory fuse box with a little rubber holder.
