I am nearing completion on my 1980 kz440 brat/tracker. I have read all the forums about the simplicity of a single carb, difficultly of tuning CV's for pods, and the availability of support and parts for the Mikuni's. I have a guy that can weld me a nice 2-1 carb manifold (largely based off 11th hour industry manifolds) and I can get a new carb for a good price. My question is, which Mikuni carb fits/performs best with a stock kz440. The manifold will obviously be fixed to the engine, and the bore to the carb could be custom to whatever the port on the carb requires. I have seen people talking about the VM28's, 30, 32, 34. This bike will only be ridden around a small island, not too worried about top end gains, but an overall consistent and stable carb. Many thanks.
(P.S. I am aware of the pre-jetted options, or need to jet and tinker with stock mikuni's, just looking for the best option to start with)
