Bs34 needle clip e ring trouble was created by Algoe
Im in the process of replacing some o rings in my carbs, and was considering shiming the needle. Ive run into a bit of a problem trying to get the needle plate out. Any technique you guys could recommend? Shouldn't it just slide out giving me access to the e clip? Ive put a decent amount of pressure on it from the opposite side trying to press it out with no luck.
Thanks in advance

It almost looks like someone has epoxied it in place. There appears to be a shiny fillet around the outside of the retainer in your picture. It should slide right out normally. You may have to destroy the retainer in order to gain access at this point. If it is epoxy, you could potentially soften it with acetone, toluene, etc. Or, you could go the opposite route and make the epoxy brittle by immersing it in liquid nitrogen (if you’ve got access - I’m fortunate enough that I do). Either way, be super careful not to damage the diaphragms - those are the critical part and I’m not 100% convinced that the repro diaphragms out there function in the same way as the originals.
