Okay, so I finally ordered a new (used) engine for my KZ750 LTD. I got a 1983 Kz750EE engine, not sure what exactly it came from, but it doesn't come with carbs.

I could take my carbs from my '82 KZ750LTD and put them on the '83, but I was wondering about these Mikuni carbs I found online. Are they any good? Does anyone have any experience with them?

They have the radial flat slide which I happened to read recently improves the throttle response (not sure why though).

Thanks!

What size, They are great carbs but bolting them up to a stock engine is useless.

34mm size.

Would it still be useless if I don't have a good set of Keihin stock carbs?

Getting a set of RS34 carbs dialed in for a 750 will be near impossible. They were made for a highly modded 750 and up. I ran a set of RS36 carbs on my highly modded 1175 cc GPZ engine with ported head a big cams. The 36'swere to big I should have run the 34's. Look for a set of Mikuni BS34 carbs their easier to find and will bolt right up. What are they asking for the 34's?

If you are dead set on after market carbs a set of CR29's would be a better choice.
I run a set of RS38's on my cammed and piped ZRX1200 and they work great on that motor.

I'm a bit confused on how you can't tune them? they have adjustable accel pump, and you can change jets. compared to a new set of keihin cr carbs its a ton cheaper...... im in middle of research to buy a set of something weather it be keihin or mikuni.

They are very tunable but not on a small engine. Putting a big carb on a smal engine is asking for a tuning nightmare. You will have an engine that will have a hard time running in the lower rpm range so riding it around town will not be fun. The larger the carb the worse the vacuum signal is at low rpm so you end up chasing tuning issues. The opposite happens with a smaller carb the vacuum signal is stronger so the carb is easier to tune especially on a small engine. The 29mm smoothbores are a better choice. It's basic physics

You are correct the 750 did come with CV34 carbs but the CV carb has a huge restrictor in the throat, butterfly valve so it's going to act like a smaller carb. The RS34's function differently than the CV carbs. Using RS34's on a 750 is like like trying to get a set of CV40mm to run correctly on a 750. Your comparing apples to oranges.

Anyone run RS carbs with the accelerator pump rod removed, thereby disabling the pump system?
Just wondering what disadvantages may be had by doing that.
