Float Height Too Height - Worth fixing?

I did the float test using a clear tube and found my gasoline level is right at the top of the float bowl. I don't think I have an issue with rich fuel conditions, but wanted to get people's opinion on if it is worth taking the carbs off to fix. The manual says 3-5 mm from the top of the bowl.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
If the bike runs fine with no flooding or over enrichment then don't mess with it.

I am having issues with the bike at startup. Some clanking (still need to check cam chain tension), periodic bursts (more exhaust volume than normal) out of the exhaust pipes (but they do not smell like gas and it's not smokey at all). The symptoms all go away after the bike has been running for a while (like 15 minutes + of idle). I originally thought this would end up showing a lean mixture but guess not. These symptoms don't sound like a rich mixture issue -- right?

Sounds more like a carb sync issue to me. Your clanking is most likely the primary chain , not the cam chain. The primary isn't tensioned in most of the KZ engines, so unbalanced carbs will make some primary noise.

If all your carbs have approximately the same height, you're fine. Depending on the tube you use, the capillary action of the fuel in the tube can make it appear higher. So long as it doesn't keep climbing up if you switch the fuel tap to 'prime', you're fine.

Fix um. All the heartburn you've been going through with the bike running like crap (your other threads).
Without clean carbs...do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Nessism I disassembled and cleaned the carbs out a month ago using Berryman's B-12 carb cleaner. I tried to do a good job but it sounds like I probably need to do it again.

Before that I will test for a vacuum leak spraying carb cleaner on the boots. I'll also look into getting one of the carb sync testing kits (space is tight but I'll see what I can do).

Thanks!
