Does anybody know of a source for New Genuine Mikuni 5J9 Jet Needles? I know they are NLA from Kawasaki. These are the stock needles for the early Z's. Thanks Clay

Pricey for just the needles. Perhaps if you contact Z1 Enterprises they could source needles separately.

I don't know a source for the 5J9 but Y45 is the same needle and is the replacement used in most aftermarket kits. I use Keyster kits.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Thanks for the Info! Because i'm so ole-fashioned I remember actually calling in my order to Z1E, thing of the past now. Jeff S used to be a pleasure to chat with and could arrange getting items like this. How does the Keyster/Aftermarket Needle compare to OEM, successful actual usage? I know it's a single taper so not that hard to compare.

If you buy the Keyster kit from Z1E (about $35) you will get a set of 4 needles of varying profile from thin to thick. (You also get choke plungers, jet needles, mains, pilots and fuel/air screws) The Y45 (second thinnest) is the same as a 5J9, so will function the same. You need 4 kits to do a Z1 and are left with a lot of parts left over...main jets from 102.5 to about 120 if memory serves. That's the downside. I bought them because I wanted more than just needles.

I don't know if you can buy the needles separately. If you truly want a 5J9, you can sometimes find them used on ebay. But beware that they would be worn by the gas flowing through the needle jet.
