I recently bought my first bike, an 82 KZ440 LTD, and it only has one throttle cable. I understand that having the second cable is basically a safetly precaution, but if my bike only has one cable, should (if possiable) I add another one. If so, are there kits available to do this?

Also, my tach isn't working, so is there some other way to determine is my idle speed is set too low?

Your carburetor was engineered to use one cable. Realistically, there is no good way to add another. There are springs to return the throttle so a second cable is unnecessary. As far as your idle speed, the tach isn't particularly accurate (when working) in the lower rpm range so it isn't useful for setting idle speed anyway. Either use an auxillary tach to set the idle speed or do it by ear.
