Float Level Issue

Float Level Issue was created by cg94
I was checking my float levels and noticed that the carb furthest to the left is set very low. I have been having the issue of the bike dying and it feels like the bike is running out of fuel. If I prime it occasionally while I ride the bike it won't die.

Is this a result of one of the float levels being so low or is there a blockage of fuel somewhere/float needle getting stuck? When the bike dies the carb is completely empty of fuel, but all the others are at their proper levels.

Thanks!

Sounds like a sticky float or needle. Clean it up and re test. Low bowl fuel levels result in running lean on that cylinder

Thanks for the advice. I checked and the float seems to be getting stuck occasionally as it presses the needle. I cleaned them with some carb cleaner. How can I avoid the float from sticking?

there is a chance the needle is a little tight in the bore, i have had problems like this and cure it by rubbing the three ribs on the needle a few times on wet and dry paper 800 grit.

Also ensure the floats are at 90 degree to the pivot and are parallel to each other. Ie not rubbing on the side of the float bowl.

Am uncertain about whether with the carb at hand that the float might possibly be installed upside down.

Good Fortune! :)

I bended the float that was giving me issues and it seemed to have addressed it for the past week. Just recently though it seems after hard acceleration that some of the floats are occasionally getting stuck as the throttle has a delay to it. I may have to take the carbs off and address each float as I had only bent one of them.

Delay in the throttle is in the throttle cable adjustment. Be sure to bend the float adjustment tab and not the whole float. Remove the float and clean the rod th he float miunrrs on and check for any gu m or burrs. Needle could be hanging up if it's dirty or is this worn. Check the tip for ridges. Run your fin gern mail down tip and you xanvfeel if thgere are any. Usually, a delay in idle returning after closing throttle is in the xablecadjuystment. Doesn't take much to cause a ptoblem.
