Hello All, I just bought a 1979 KZ400H1 LTD with just under 15000 mi.
C arbs are CV 32 but marked on side of one as V55?? Bike was slow to return to idle, Took down the carbs cleaned and replaced float needle valves and the main jet
nozzles.

Bike runs well at 4000, but is a bit rough under 3000. It also is still very slow to return to idle from 3000 and above. Idle srew and pilot jet adjustments were by book!

Any suggestions? The diaphrams were good and the vacumn pistons slide well.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Check your ignition timing and smoothly moving of your timing advancer , if not give him a little lube.

Thanks Scirocco ,
Did check the points and put the strobe on the advance, moved smoothly.

I'm kinda stumped on this one!
Really appreciate your taking time to answer!

Can you upload a short Video of the "slow to return to idle" phenomenon .
Any mods to the carbs like pod filter or so???
Throttle cable slack, easy movement and Routing ok???

The only bikes that don't need a carb sync are:

A: bikes that only have one carb

B: fuel injected bikes

True, but I strongly suspect it will be a flop - even if Harley can increase its range. I say that because I believe most Harley owners want their motorcycles to have the attributes that have served Harley well over many decades. That would include the Harley sound, low frequency vibration, the look of the engine, and other physical attributes that give a Harley its unique personality.

In the 1990's Harley acquired Buell motorcycles. Those bikes had some Harley attributes but were not widely accepted by diehard Harley riders because they didn't consider them to be "real" Harleys. As a result, Harley wasn't making sufficient profit on those and they abandoned Buell bikes after about 10 years. Buell bikes had much more in common with traditional Harleys than any electric bike will. Consequently, I believe very few old school Harley owners will embrace the electric bikes. Without the support of old school Harley owners I doubt the electric bike will succeed since new, young riders whose opinion of the Harley mark is based largely on the traditional Harley motorcycle will be reluctant to buy Harleys. Good points and not to hijack the thread but I've got to applaud them for being bold and trying things. The one thing these bikes will have is torque out the yin yang and who doesn't like that? Maybe they can put on one of those very loud stereo systems and play an endless loop of a straight pipe Harley.
