Airbox from 74-76 on a 79 Ltd Kz400

Hi All

I've got not air filters at all on my new (to me) 1979 KZ400H Ltd and stock airboxes are tricky to find. I can get one from the 74-76 D model but I wanted to know if that would fit the '79.

If not what are my other options?

It's going to get pod filters on in the short term to get it running but my mechanic suggests that it'll always be a sub-optimal solution.

Would velocity stacks be an effective breathing solution on the stock CV carbs or am i going to have to find some flat slides?

Any help much appreciated!

1979 KZ400 sort of cafe racer thing...

The early KZ400 has a different carb spacing compared to the late KZ400/440.
Do a search for custom air boxes. Some have had some success building their own.
As for jetting carbs for individual filters I have used the DynoJet kit for the KZ750 LTD[H].
You can do it piece meal and it helps if you are on good terms with your local Sudco dealer.
