podding my 305

The world has finally run out of air filters for my 305, so I guess its pod time. First question: do I need to remove the airbox? 2nd question: should I have asked the first question before I removed the airbox?

3rd-7th questions. What hell have I gotten myself into? Now I'm reading all sorts of scary stuff about having to retune, rejet, etc. Is it true? And where does that breather hose go if I remove the airbox (which I did)? Can this all still work out to be as easy as I envisioned it, which was: remove airbox, screw on pods, ride away? IIRC I have CV-32  carbs

Pods do require rejetting, and getting it to run as well as it does with the normal air filter may be quite difficult.  Did you try bike bandit (see below)?  Ed

No I tried everywhere but them I guess. they have the filter but my ducts are in bad shape too, and I already bought the last pair on the planet a few years back. Not surprising they went bad so quick since they are 36 year old rubber. So that's a problem if I stick with the stock setup

You could try making an air filter from one that's similar to yours. As for the ducts you might be able to use radiator hose or something.
Doing these things probably isn't any more work than the stuff you'd have to do with individual pod filters.
Just a suggestion & it's been a while since I've seen a topic in which someone has made an air filter.

If you go the pod filter route, I would try using homemade extender ducts between the carburetors & filters.
Also, a simple box to enclose the filters might help in stabilizing the air.

I think I'm scared off of the pod idea now. the last thing I need is more problems.
I remember trying to find hose to fit for air ducts before I found that last pair on the planet. There are some redneck repairs I can do to soften them up and maybe finish the season. BUt I think I'll look for some other hose again before trying that.
