Trouble After Idle was created by nwauto
Having trouble with a "80 Kz750 after idle, the bike starts and can idle on its own but will not run after it is given throttle. The bike has had the carbs rebuilt and cleaned a few times over and the floats adjusted but nothing has fixed it. I recently put air pod on it with standard jets for the time being but it has consistently bogged and died every time it is given gas. Not sure why it consistently does this but I feel the issue is fundamental. Any advice would be great

Changing to individual filters introdices a a whole new set of variables. It might be much easier to go back to the factory intake system and filter to solve the problem, then if you must, change to individual filters and reject accordingly.
What you describe is often caused by clogged low speed jets. Did you carefully confirm that each and every tiny orifice is perfectly clear?
The problem might also be caused by a stuck timing advancer, but for now, I'd put money on clogged carb circuits, made worse by the pod filters.

Put the word carb in the search box under the file base tab, and you will see several articles about how to properly clean the various carbs used on KZs.
I am pretty sure there is an article or two on basic jetting for pod filters. There are also dozens of discussion threads on jetting for pods.

TexasKZ hit the nail on the head here.

It took us a while to find the attached article. It's a very concise article printed almost 35 yrs. ago in Cycle World magazine. It's a long but very worthwhile read that makes clear why guys install pods, then bitch about the bike not running right after re-jetting the way Bubba down the street says to do.

Bottom line; there is no free lunch. Be prepared to expend no small amount of money, and very much time & effort, in the attempt to make pods run as good as the bike's engineers were able to with an airbox.

EDIT: for some reason, the files appear out of page order. They are to be read in numerical order.

The pods have made your air/fuel mixture lean and since you haven't rejetted, will have a hard time pulling away from a stop without revving the engine a bunch. You may also need to adjust your clutch as this issue sounds more like clutch not adjusted than carbs.
