This really sucks! I went too far with an air screw extraction. The only thing comforting me, I'm NOT the first or last to do this. I'd looked high and low for a Mikuni BS34 carb body replacement, however, no luck. Found a set of flat slide Mikuni carbs at the local boneyard, they came off of a late 80's Suzuki GSX 1100. Carbs are in great shape, the jets will interchange so I'm not seeing any problem

The million dollar question is, will the flat slide Mikuni's from a Suzuki GSX 1100 be an OK replacement carburetor to install on my '82 KZ1100?

Been running the RS34 setup for over a year, and love it. A stock air box will work, but the rubber air boots won't fit as well with the flat slides because the carbs are shorter than the BS34's by about 10 mm. front to back. If you do away with the air box, then pods or stacks become options. This air box was customized to accommodate 78 mm velocity stacks, which are removed through the air box opening beneath the seat.

Using the Mikuni RS Flat Slides requires a push-pull throttle control and cables. I found a Kawasaki RH throttle unit on ebay with dual cables, but have no idea what bike they originally came on, and have not seen another one since.

The main jets are the only ones common between the BS and RS carbs. The pilot jets are different, and the air jets are changeable at the inlet bell mouth.
There are multiple tuning features available on the RS, whereas by comparison the BS tuning features are very limited.

If you want to make the flat slides work, prepare yourself for several challenges. In the end, they may all have been worth it.

I've been Mother's Daying all weekend. Just got a look at the pics. I'm trusting that you know with certainty these are BS34's not BS32's. The look so similar it is silly. I don't think my scrap set have the 5 openings on the intake bells. I may have a full set of these however. I'll look tonight.

EDIT: Pics attached below. I don't know which number carb you are looking to replace. For reasons unknown, this bank of carbs has vents for the fuel bowls....except carb #1. No sign either side of the carb body was ever cast or bored for a vent. So here is to hoping you need #2, #3, or #4.
