Jetting advice -- KZ1000J, Special CR, exhaust

Just bought a 1982 KZ1000j as a nice winter project. Seems it is all in order now, except for the jetting. I have never set jets before but have a winter to learn. All I need is a guess on where to start... it's running rich all over the place. I have a colortune to get me in the ballpark when the time comes.

Current status:
Stock motor
Kehein Special CRs with pods. (No vacuum ports? WTF!)
2-into-1 wth aftermarket universal cans like these:

Any ideas on initial jet settings?

Big thanks in advance!

Read Dr. Gamma´s "Better Than Nothing---The rebirth of a Superbike" rebuilt threat.
He use Kehein 33 CR on his bike and do a lot of tuning time and knowledge to the carburetor set up. He do a great rebuilt job!!!

It seems that thread has no mention of jet sizes, just lots of spark plug pictures.

I only checked one carb.
My jets are as follows:
main 105
slow 65
needle yy8 clip 5

I'm guessing a 52 pilot would be a good start? Something else I should check?
Last edit: 03 Dec 2017 02:25 by mung. Reason: added my jet sizes
