82 kz750 rebuild
04 Nov 2017 11:18
Hey all, new here. Rebuilding subject bike. Having a moral dilemma regarding the carburetors. I’ve had zero luck getting them fixed. I purchased a used one from eBay and it came without the throttle valves and diaphragms. Either I spend $1200 on all new carbs or I buy the throttle valves for $200 a piece. Or somehow magically EFI the bike. Any ideas?

What carbs do you have in hand now. Mikuni BS32's or ...? Show us a picture of what you are calling a throttle valve.

On an 82 kz750/4 the carbs are probably Keihin CV34s or could be Mikuni BS34s both of which use a diaphragm like the one pictured . Also possible a previous owner put something else entirely different on the bike
First thing is identufy exactly what carbs you have..
Then
Check out JBM Industries for diaphragms if yours are shot. jbmindustries.com
I dont believe Mikuni diaphragms will fit Keihin or vice versa

I've got a good bit of experience rebuilding those CV34 Keihin's and even have a few extra slides. Don't think I've got 4 spares though. I'm not pimping my wares but if you need a decent serviceable set of carbs I can get busy and put something together for you. Regarding the slides there are a couple different types for those carbs, actually it's the needle that's different mostly. I think the type you need have a gold anodized slide. The black slides are for the later Spectre bikes which have a much fatter needle. Anyway, if you want to discuss drop me a PM.
