83 KZ1100 broke down last nite...

...almost left me stranded. I rode to a wedding, about 150 miles round trip total. Topped it off about 3 miles from home. Wouldn't start. I drained my weak battery trying to start it. Some big dude push started me, got home. Wasn't getting fuel. Looked at it this AM. #1 and #4 card vac lines go to vac switch up under tank, #2 carb vac to petcock. #3 carb vac had nothing on it. I went ahead and put a cap on it, and put in the new battery out of the spectre I just got and it's running now. The little fuel filter is clean looking with no noticeable blockage. My question is, was the fact that there was nothing on #3 carb vac port causing me troubles?
The bike ran fine, other than it stalled twice at idle when I was stopped.

well that was easy fix then, but the bike is due for some attention along those carbs.
