Float height, drain spigot?

78 kz1000, vm26. I read all the time about people making or buying a special tool for setting wet float height. Couldn't I just stick a tube on the drain spigot and open the drain a little? That would cost about zero dollars, don't see any mention of that so what am I missing?

If it works, then yes you can do it that way. Some guys use a vacuum fitting from the auto parts store, and either cut threads on it or just screw it into the drain hole. then attach clear tubing.

A piece of soft/clear plastic tubing with a taper shape ground in on one end can be used. Jam it into the threaded hole in the floatbowl and sort of screw it in as tightly as possible. Works fine.

I used #2 rubber corks and drilled a 3/8 hole in them for the hose when I set the floats on the 29s. Didn't leak a drop.
