Mikuni v. Keihin was created by TexasKZ
I was wasting time on the interweb searching for information and opinions concerning Keihin CR versus Mikuni RS. Found lots of unfounded opinions, and not much else. I did, however, stumble across this short article. He brings up some interesting points that might affect carburetor tuning. I also noticed that he seems to have left out the carbs with secondary main jets. What a complicated little device.........

My personal preference is Mikuni BSXX models. I find it easier to un-gang them and clean them than the Keihin. But I have lots more experience with Mikuni CV carbs.

Don't fix it until it's broken.

The carbs I mentioned are mechanical slide, not CV.

The author of the article is none other than Mike Nixon....the guy is somewhat of an icon to us long time CBX owners....American Honda factory trained service tech guru, authored many articles and tech tips in the CBXPress (International CBX Owner's Association newsletter)...never expected his name to show up in KZ Rider.

Larry Cavenaugh, long time member of KZR, has sung the praises of the Keihin CRS, especially on modified engines. As I recall, he has also argued that the Mikuni RS is a good choice for some applications, but seemes to favor the CRS. On modified engines, he thinks the BS carbs are, well, b.s.
