Jetting help kz400 LTD stock carbs

Hello all and I have seem to found some of my issues and am running a lot better now. My problem to try and conquer today is that now it is starting to break up mod rpms (about 3500/40000-5000) what do I adjust for that? Do I shim the needle a little? Adjust jets (which ones secondary, main, or pilot?) Any info would be great I'm scouring through forums and old posts to try and find some jetting info. Thanks in advance for the help guys this place has taught me and a lot so far

Yes, adjust your needle. The main covers all rpm and the secondary just the top end.

Hello Matt. You just bought CV carb parts from me off of eBay.
I got your message about the jet needles before I shipped the parcel out.
Then I did look at the scrap carb bodies, they were in aluminum scrap bin.
So I tried to figure out? The slides were corroded in place and not coming out. Easy enough, the plastic clips down in bottom were easily chiseled off! And the needles just came out!
I managed to slip them in the Post Office Priority Box before I mailed it out.
So you got yourself a matched set of jet needles for the stuff you bought off of eBay.
I put a small piece of Xtra fine gray Scotch cloth to clean them up when you install them.
Don't ask me anything about those carbs! I have no idea what or how they work! (LOL) I always hated CV carbs.
But this is the partzilla parts reference of what I gave you.
My old eyes are too old to read the size of them.

Thanks again for being a life saver. Those needles will be perfect for me. I should have the package either today ( Tuesday or Wednesday) depending on shipping. Not far from Buffalo to Syracuse. When I get them and get installed it'll be a waiting game until friday. When I can really play around with it

Hi Matt, I was going to list the engine, frame, trip tree, swing arm, shocks on craigslist for $100.
Engine is complete. Except for starter and ignition. engine had 12.021 mile on it. Sat since 1999.
No title for frame. Good for engine parts. And practicing modifying the frame.
Or a coffee table in your man cave!!
