Pilot jet location - help was created by ric812
I keep reading that the pilot jet is covered by a plug but the FSM does not really show where it is. This is on a BS34 carb from a 1982 kz750 twin car. I have attached pictures of the carb. Please help, I do not want to drill out the wrong spot.

Are you sure those a BS34 carbs. I could be wrong, but they look a lot like the larger BS38 carbs that were stock on the earlier versions of the 750 twin. If that is the case then both the pilot jet and the main jet are screwed into the bowl and not the the carb body.

No I am not sure. Is there anyway figure it out? Maybe measuring the more size? There is the main jet in the middle of the float bowl and another jet just to the side of it. I will have to post pictures of the float bowl once I get home.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

That's the one. If you have BS34, the pilot is fed through a passage in the main jet shaft.

You can measure the carburetor bore, but from the diagrams at Partzilla the BS38 bowl gaskets on the earlier 750-Twins are fairly distinctive. The BS34 bowl gasket appears to be a rubber o-ring type of gasket. There are other differences, but the bowl gasket is probably the most obvious.

Here is a pictures of the jet that was underneath the drain plug. There is a 13/16 deep well socket for size reference.

Since it looks like the carbs are not BS34 I ordered the wrong carb holder. Does Z1 have these holders?
