Hey everyone, are these bikes cold natured bastards or what?? My bike runs like a champ when its warmed up fully but when i first start it and take it down the road, i have to feather the clutch more then usual and it also acts like it wants to die when i take of. If i dont feather it a lot and rev it out a lot when its cold and i take off the first time, it will bog and die. Is this carb related or are all these air cooled bikes just cold natured like a air cooled dirt bike?? It takes off and runs great and i dont have to do anything mentioned above, IF its warmed up

How long do you let the engine warm up before riding it? If you do not let it warm up for a couple minutes first do you keep the choke on (or partially on) when you first start riding? Ed

I turn the choke on completely, then blip the theottle and let it idle for 1-2 mins. After that, i turn it completely off and drive it.

Try letting is warm up for 5 minutes before riding or try riding it after 2 minutes with the choke partially on until the engine comes up to full operating temperature. Ed

The choke on your bike is really a fuel enhancer and there is no need to give it more gas especially when it is fully on.

Depending on the temperature I will give it more choke for colder but rarely full.
When it turns over and runs I find the sweet spot with the choke lever that gives it the most rpm's and tap it down if it gets too high, somewhere over 2000 I guess.

It takes a while to figure it out , you'll get it.

It's always good to give it some time to warm up before riding out in traffic.
