Z1 carbs identification. was created by Surfdad49
I cannot find any info on these carbs. The issue is the vacuum circuit on carbs. See Carb #2 with the linkage and the others have just a tube and a float on the intake side of the carb. Doesn't show up on the 74 Z1 parts diagram. It appears a Z1 rebuild kit will work on the carbs with the exception of this circuit.

These are not the proper 74 Z1 carbs.

They are likely off a 1979 or 1980 KZ1000 LTD.
The accelerator pump says 79 or 80, the duel fuel feed was on the LTD models only.

Is there any advantage to these carbs? Seems like an odd modification to an otherwise stock bike. I know from a collectable standpoint it would be better to have the correct carbs but at this point I want to get the bike running to see what mechanical repairs are needed before I spend the money on correct carbs.

the carbs will work on a z1. The issue with the accelerator pump is cleaning it out and getting even squirts of fuel down the throat of the carb - if you can't get that, you can disable it easily..
I would pull the float bowl off and see what state the carbs are inside.
the needles in these carbs will only have one clip setting - so you are a little limited on tuning there. The accel pump is adjustable - and that can help compensate for flat spots in the mid-range.
I know a place selling carb kits for these.

The best thing you can do with those carbs is, carefully place them under an 18 wheeler semi tire and drive over them, Repeat several times making sure you didn't miss.
Then go get some 75 Z1 or 76 kz900 carbs ( with side air screw) You'll thank me later

I pulled the bowls off them and it looks like the owner drained the bowls before storing it. The jets were clean. I guess I have to decide on getting the correct carbs now or rebuilding these. If I decide to rebuild can you send me the link. I appreciate your feedback

Thought about it over night and I am going to find a set of correct carbs for it. From my late 74 serial# I need the 75 Z1B carbs. Anyone have thoughts on what price range these sell for?

The carbs could imo likely be restored to serviceable condition, and perhaps without needing any new parts other than perhaps larger pilot jets in event the fuel pump is disabled.
