'83 1100 Spectre mystery hoses... was created by padarjohn
I picked up an '83 1100 Spectre last summer, and although it was in surprisingly good shape I've been cleaning up lingering issues. I'm perplexed by a pair of hoses attached to the carbs, though.
There is a T-connector between 1&2 and 3&4, with a hose attached to each. They're on the airbox side of the carbs, and they were just draped over the airbox, hanging down into the space between it and the battery.
The carbs are currently on their way to Rick at OldSkoolCarbs to be rebuilt. But meanwhile I'd like to figure out what those hoses were for. I can't find any reference to any such hoses in any of the manuals that I have.
Can anybody explain what those hoses might be for or what they may have originally been attached to?

The hoses on the T-connetors are float bowl vents and exit to the atmosphere.
Do not block them, let them attached like before after your carb rebuild.

As a side note, there are 2 different types of BS34's. The other type has 4 holes in the air horn of the carb. They vent into the airbox directly, without the extra tubing. Is there a differencein performance? IDK. Just a observation.
