Hey y'all.

Got a decent deal on a 400ltd that's been sitting in a heated garage for quite a while. It's in great shape but has some issues I'm guessing are typical for a bike that hasn't been run for a while. Guy I got it from sold it for a buddy. He did a "light rebuild" on the carbs. He wasn't super familiar with the vacuum type.

As it stands, it rode great on day one. Now it is only firing on one carb. idles inconsistently. When you release the throttle it takes longer than it should to drop in rpm.

Put some seafoam in the system and I'm concerned it may have taken some gunk from the tank with it and is clogging somewhere.

Any idea on where to start? I intend to do a more in depth carb clean and replace the lines, etc. but I was curious if anyone had some specific knowledge of this problem on this bike.

Thanks!

Does it momentarily fire when starting fluid is sprayed into the carb intake?

Good Fortune! :)

looks like the float was stuck. Put some seafoam in the tank and i think it picked up shit and clogged some things up. Have the carbs off now. There was dry rot on the boot going in to the engine too and that wasn't playing nice. Ordering parts next week and reassembling. We shall see.

It would be a good idea to install new fuel lines and install a good inline fuel filter, too. More junk could be in the tank or lines, just waiting to break loose and cause you grief.

That's definitely the plan. Also found some cracks in the rubber on the air filter intake ducts. Hoping I can find some cheaper than the NOS ones on ebay for 120 bucks haha.

Thanks for the advice, y'all.
