1981 GPz Kinda Done. Carbs Hang. Fuel Tank Leaks.

I guess I would say I am finished for now on this 1981. It's a rider, not a show bike by any means.

Idle hangs and needs to be re-set all the time. Has decent power, crap brakes and the fuel tank has developed a leak.

Wiring harness looks like something from WWII. But everything kinda works.

Thanks much for the help I have utilized from this site, and members.

At least it looks to be complete and original condition... even the fairing. Most of them did not survive.

It looks great in the photo! :)

Once the brakes are working properly they tend to be pretty good.

I still have the original fairing from my '81 550. In fact, it is so well preserved that it still bears the number (written in white shoe polish) from the time I took it to a dragstrip 20+ years ago. I picked up another fairing on ebay about 10 years ago to use in case I ever actually restore that bike.

She's had clubman bars for over 20 years as well and they block the upper fairing mount, so I would have to go back to the stock bars (which are stored in the basement).

Yes, it does!

Yup. Perhaps they need to be bled or have new pads, or both.

Love the dual shock GPzs. My brother had one and still regrets selling it. Maybe someday I'll be able to add one to the stable...
Well done...
