You need to use a timing light and be sure the advance is working. Valves adjusted?

Got my timing light it appears to be working.changed plugs wires and cleaned coils and get spark on all 4 now (1 &4) we're the trouble cylinders.
Took carbs apart again today and noticed my jet needles(attached to slide) had the small silver inserts stuck to #1 and 4 needles.(circled in pic)
This is definitely a problem.so what I'm curious about is if they are supposed to sit flush down in the insert like my picture?any tips on getting these to stay in the carb body?
Thanks and valve clearance will be next on my list.

My manual shows them to be the needle jets but they are a pain in the butt to press into the carbs.i think the only way for me to get them to fit carb 1 and 4 was to flip them .one side us flush and one recessed. I believe the recess is the part the needle drops into cause the flush side up is what cause one needle jet to bind onto the needle .we're all brass?

Looks like it's upside down. The longer part should be in the carb body . Better pics of the others. View through the carb throat?

Thanks to all of your suggestions I've sorted out my carb problem.
i had the needle nozzle/holder set in from the top of the carb vs. From under where the main jet sits.i feel dumb cause this ruined one of my needles.my carbs sat off the bike for over a month so I was a bit hazy on putting everything back in.the manual definitely was a life saver as well as you all.everything is in place correctly and am picking up a nos needle from a local motorcycle wiz aka the wildman, lol.
