1983 550 Spectre - Carb vacuum line ? was created by NDSpectre
Here is a picture of my carbs with the vacuum lines attached. Carbs 1 and 4 are linked together by a T fitting that attaches to the vacuum switch valve. Carb 2 vacuum line goes to the petcock. Carb 3 vacuum fitting is capped. Any problem with that arrangement? Also, if I get rid of the vacuum switch valve, can I just cap Carbs 1 & 4 as well??

Carbs are numbered left to right. Looks like petcock vacuum is coming off #3 and #2 is capped.

Agreed the numbering is reversed in my post as the photo is of the side connected to the engine. Question - can you get rid of all the vacuum lines other than the one connected to the petcock - and does it matter which carb vacuum line is connected to the petcock?

As Texas KZ said, "yes", you can get rid of those two vacuum line and cap them off.

It does not matter which cylinder controls the petcock.
