K&L Mikuni parts any good?

I am looking at a set of Mikuni VM28's which were rebuilt using K&L parts. I would be more enthused had Mikuni parts been used. The question is are the K&L parts quality good enough for the 28"s or would I be fighting them trying to get them to run? Thanks in advance. Tim

K&L carb parts are not the worst, but they are NOT up to OEM Mikuni level either.

In particular, the K&L float needle springs are weaker than the stock Mikuni springs and often times the weight of the float will cause the needles to deflect which can lead to an increased fuel level in the bowls. You best measure fuel height using the clear tube method if you pull the trigger on those carbs. Also, check the jet numbers and compare to stock. Sometimes the rebuild kit jets are generic and span many years, however Kawasaki changed the jetting on an almost year by year basis.
