Two
Mikuni offers a dual-cable throttle control kit, and I think the cables are included.

I have a ProMotion throttle. I am running 29s using only one cable. Think I have an extra cable.

I am hoping I can get away from relocating the petcock. The 29s just worked.

Should be alright...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but don't folks typically replace the EFI with BS34 carbs on those bikes? If that's the case, then the RS 34's will fit right in without issue.
Aside from two cables, they require two fuel line connections, as well.

Grabbed this from APE's website, "All Mikuni smoothbore carburetors are designed for use with a push-pull type throttle assembly. Because of the precision slide fit, slide return is delayed because of high vacuum. Installation of this throttle and cable assembly enables the slides to be pulled shut for instant return to idle.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RUN RS MIKUNIS WITHOUT A PUSH PULL THROTTLE"

I opted to use aluminum throttle tube and bought new cables to fit. The plastic stuff just don't git it for me. They say ,,, at extreme acceleration the vacuum can hold them in place also, so be careful when the skin is pealing off your face at a hole shot you don't ice up, use pure gas,,, and don't get stranded for drinking too much gas. IT HAPPENS!!! I love my 34s

I found this Kawasaki dual-cable throttle control on ebay. Otherwise identical to the stock single-cable unit, it works beautifully with the RS34's installed on my bike. Had to swap over the wiring harness, but the fun part was fabricating two functional throttle cables with various components from four.
