Mikuni BS 34's ?
06 Apr 2017 14:59
Not familiar with these Carbs. but here's what I'm trying to do. I'm wanting to rebuild my 77' KZ1000A motor and am contemplating building the motor as a 1075 with mild cams and head work. I only have the stock 26mm carbs. and have been told to entertain the idea of Mikuni BS 34 carbs. instead of the 29 smoothbores or even 28's.
Does anyone on the Forum have any experience with these 34's ?

BS34's were used on the GPz750, the later year KZ1000's, Suzuki GS1000/1100's, and no doubt various other Japanese bikes of the KZ era. They are good carbs, easy to work on. Like most CV type carbs they require careful rejetting in order to match the engine and exhaust you are using. Rejetting is not the easiest thing in the world but not super hard either. Dynojet makes jetting kits with a tapered needle which is very useful.
I've got a spare set of BS36's from a GS1150 that would be a nice match to an engine like yours. Pretty sure they bolt on to a KZ head but I've never tried.

Sent you a PM.
If anyone around here has direct knowledge about the interchange between KZ carbs and Suzuki GS carbs please chime in. I think the spacing is very similar but I have never done the swap myself.

I'm very happy with my RS34's on my KZ650(810).
