How tight?

I put new carburetor intake manifolds on my 1979 ltd 1000. Question is, what should they be torqued at.

Put some medium strength thread locker on the bolts and make them snug. No need to go crazy tight.

New manifolds conform to the shape of the intake flange of the cylinder head over time. As that happens the bolts need to be checked and tightened to compensate for the compression of the rubber.
Mine needed tightening after about a week, and will get checked again as the rides become more-frequent. :cheer:

I use allens on mine so was able to set at 60 inch lbs... felt good and snug and not too tight.. second the blue loctite.
1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.

Tighten until they strip, then back off 1/4 turn :pinch:
